Beastly by Alex Flinn

Name - Beastly
Author - Alex Flinn
Publisher - HarperTeen
Release - October 1st 2007
Rating - 4.5/5
Summary from Goodreads - I am a beast.

A beast!

Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster. You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll,stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.
Review - So Beastly is loosely based on The Beauty and The Beast which I have never seen (shocker right?), so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Lucky for me, I quickly found out that I was getting myself into a magically written, captivating, and charming tale of two very different people in New York city.

The main character Kyle Kingsbury is popular, beautiful, and rich, but he is also vain, egotistic, and obnoxious. As the story progresses you get to see a major change in Kyles character, which is something that makes a book great for me. Lindy, the Belle of the story, is smart, poor, and nice. The polar opposite of Kyle.

I am now yearning to read more by Flinn. Her writing just captures you. The only thing in the book that was a little off for me was the time line. I know it would be difficult to fit two years into a 304 page book, but I didn't like it. I think everyone should at least give this book a try because who doesn't like a good love story?
