City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Title: The City Of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: McElderry Books
Release: March 25th, 2008
Rating: 4/5
Synopsis:
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go -- especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil -- and also her father.
To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings -- and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

Review - First of all this is the second book in the Mortal Instruments series so there might be some spoilers!

Well I don't know what to say. The beginning was amazing, but towards the end of the middle it got a little cliche.

I really liked the ending and epilogue. I think they made the book for me, they make me want to go and pick up the third book.

I liked the characters in this book a lot more than I did when I read the first book. In the fist book I found that most of the characters were annoying. I liked the new characters in this book. The inquisitor was good addition to the story and  Maia, the 15 year old werewolf and possibly Simon's new girlfriend. In this book we also got to see more of Valentine, Luke, Simon, Maryse, and Magnus.

All in all this was a pretty good sequal. I would recommend to all Harry Potter lovers out there.
